It's Fall already and one thing I like about Fall is the changing of foliage colors -from trees to shurbs and everything green. It's a pretty sight to see but then, it doesn't last long. I have noticed that in a few days those leaves will turn brown and start to fall to the ground.
This is not a novelty to people who live here in the US and in countries where weather chages from summer to winter. But for us fromt he Philippines, it is fascinating to learn and watch. Even myself, I don't get tired of this..this is one of natures' amazing properties. I even wonder how do trees live that way thru winter. Well, they are built like that-able to stand winter without the leaves. But I can't help thinking as well that our guava trees in the Philippines and other tree varieties will not really make it here. They are made for the sun! Thus, I miss those tropical fruits like mangoes, bananas, jackfruit, rambutan, and a lot others.
I have always wished to travel around the county or out of state at this particular time of the year to observe and soak in the beauty of the fall colors. And yet, five years later, I still haven't done it. Well, the reason primarily is that I don't drive yet. And yes, I took the road test and failed it. I took lessons again and scheduled another test but then cancelled it coz my instructor didn't think I am ready yet. So, I practised a few times with my niece, scheduled another road test and cancelled it three days before the test date. And right now, I lost interest (with all this economic turmoil, I can't be buying a car), and haven't scheduled a date yet.
Anyway, back to my fall story. I just content myself with observing the trees in my neighborhood and along the way to my other job (on the bus). I am still waiting for that rich orange leaf colors as they turn brown gradually. It's just amazing and wonderful to note the transformations..the color changes like a blink in the eye. Sometimes, I just get surprised to note how I missed that tree. In here, I am sharing some pictures of my trees infront of the house as they go thru the fall colors. I have to post some more later as they fully turn brown. Note the dates these were taken, too.
A few weeks after- way before Thanksgiving all the trees (except the pine trees) are bare and now there's the hard work to do: raking all those leaves in the ground and placing them in those lawn bags. Quite backbreaking, yeah! By witnertime, these trees will be covered by snow. I remember in the Philippines how we used to put cotton balls on our Christmas trees to simulate snow...now it sounds silly to me. Watching snow fall is actually mesmerizing at times. Oh, the wonders of nature. Remember my post on teh first time that I saw snowflakes falling? I smile at the thought of it.Will post later when my tree is covered with snow! Bye for now!
My tree has totally shed most of its leaves. Other trees in the neighborhood are just changing their colors. Soon, the scene is gloomy to me. Back home then, these pics were nice to see in postcards or in Christmas cards. By wintertime, the branches will be covered by snow after a snowstorm.
